Student answer (Band 6.5)

Information gather by reading is the most common things and people used to read books, newspaper and many more items either digitalized or printed. Many people assume that in future nobody will buy printed items for reading like newspaper or books because they can able to read online without paying for free . In my opinion, I agree to this statement to larger extent. This essay will anticipate all the facts and ideas.

The essay will highlights the idea on why people in future would prefer online reading rather than printed one. Firstly, in this technological era it becomes easy for the people to find any information or news online from the internet and most importantly it save their time finding in the books and also paying money for everyday newspapers. For example may online website like Times of India, Wikipedia, Amazon kindle etc. provides detail information and books online without paying. Therefore, in future buying newspaper and books will get reduced because people find more convenance to read it online.

Apart from this, it also save many tress from cutting down tress for making paper and eventually it helps in the problems of deforestation and other environmental issues. Online website provides wide variety of books which is sometimes hard to find out in local stores and also all the newspaper and books are available in different languages which people find it more useful than printed paper. In future the service become more improving for digital reading than it is today.

Conversely, there are some website which ask for premium purchase to read the rare items. Digital reading could also harm the people eyesight at some levels if proper measure are not taken and also it can be seen sometimes than in online reading people have less concentration and grasping power than on printing reading.

To conclude, digital reading is really beneficial for pocket and the environmental problems it may have some of the disadvantages but it can be solve by taking proper measures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of the shift to digital media. The ideas are relevant, covering convenience, cost-effectiveness, and environmental benefits. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the environmental argument is introduced, it is not fully explored, and the counter-argument regarding eyesight and concentration is mentioned but lacks depth. The essay would benefit from more detailed examples and a more nuanced discussion of why the 'free' aspect of online content is a sustainable or realistic model for the future. Overall, the response is sufficient but remains at a general level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Apart from this', and 'Conversely', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'The essay will highlights the idea on why...'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved by better linking the supporting points to the main topic sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of word-choice errors or awkward phrasing, such as 'Information gather by reading is the most common things', 'convenance' (convenience), and 'save many tress' (trees). The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'deforestation' and 'digitalized', but the overall range is limited. To improve, the student should focus on collocations and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The essay will highlights', 'service become more improving'), incorrect verb forms ('they can able to read'), and missing articles. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. The student should focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that modal verbs are used correctly.
