Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the future of printed media, but the development is inconsistent. While you state a clear position, the essay suffers from significant repetition; the second half of the text repeats the arguments made in the first half almost verbatim. This redundancy prevents a full exploration of the topic and limits the depth of your ideas. To improve, ensure each paragraph introduces new points or deeper analysis rather than restating previous ones. The structure is also slightly confused by the inclusion of a 'both perspectives' discussion, which contradicts your strong agreement with the statement. Focus on supporting your specific stance throughout the entire essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is disrupted by the repetition of entire sections. While you use some cohesive devices like 'The first and foremost reason' and 'On the contrary', the overall progression is hindered because the reader encounters the same information twice. Paragraphing is present, but the repetition makes the structure feel mechanical and disjointed. To achieve a higher band, ensure that each paragraph serves a distinct purpose in your argument and use a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly. Avoid repeating content, as this significantly impacts the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'redd' instead of 'read', 'enewspaper', and 'feautre'. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'portable' and 'accessibility', but the range is narrow and repetitive. There are also instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'sending online cell problem'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure you proofread for basic spelling errors. Expanding your range of collocations—words that naturally go together—will help you convey your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'the number of people prefer to redd' (should be 'people prefer to read'), 'technology provide' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'it would distracted' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and there are several instances of missing articles or incorrect word forms. To reach a higher band, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, correct verb tenses, and sentence construction. Reducing these frequent errors will make your writing much more professional and easier to follow.
