Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt but struggles with clarity and logical consistency. The introduction states that people will buy traditional books because they are free, which is a contradictory premise. While the essay attempts to discuss both sides, the arguments are often underdeveloped or confusing, such as the claim that physical books are not costly, followed by a discussion on e-books. The position is somewhat unclear due to these logical gaps. To improve, ensure that your main arguments directly support your thesis and avoid contradictory statements that confuse the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the overall structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'However' and 'Moreover'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, making it difficult to follow the flow of the argument. For instance, the jump from discussing newspaper availability to children's habits lacks a smooth logical bridge. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single, clear idea would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'read whole for free of cost' and 'alleviate this phenomenon'. While the essay attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'AI' and 'technologies', the overall range is narrow. Many phrases are used incorrectly, which occasionally impedes the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) and using more precise academic vocabulary instead of relying on basic, informal phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'traditional books was not costly', 'both view has merit') and incorrect sentence structures. There is a limited range of complex structures, and those that are attempted often contain errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of colons and commas. These errors are frequent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to grasp. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be a great starting point for improvement.
