Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt but fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you state a position, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. You mention that people will stop buying printed materials due to cost and convenience, but the arguments lack depth and supporting evidence. Furthermore, the transition to a counter-argument about the dangers of the internet is abrupt and not clearly linked to the main prompt regarding the future of printed media. To improve, ensure you fully develop each point with clear examples and maintain a consistent focus on the specific question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'In previous years' and 'now a days'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your train of thought. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to your main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', 'people', and 'things'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'expensive work' and 'online watching'. The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey basic meaning, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to technology, media, and consumer behavior. Avoid using informal or conversational language in an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everything else have no idea'), article usage, and sentence structure. You rely heavily on simple sentences, and your attempts at more complex structures often result in errors, such as 'so i advised to you , avoid the internet and only use internet only basic work and than off this'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tenses and pluralization.
