Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position on the future of printed media. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention convenience and accessibility, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about using devices while 'walking, sleeping and playing games' is not a strong academic argument for why printed books will disappear. To improve, focus on providing more sophisticated reasons, such as the environmental impact of paper production or the cost-effectiveness of digital distribution for publishers, rather than just personal convenience. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the main points presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Then' is used inappropriately to start a paragraph, and 'Whereas' is used as a sentence starter without a preceding clause to contrast. There is also a tendency to use 'In addition' repeatedly, which makes the flow feel repetitive. To reach a higher band, work on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that transitions logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey the message, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'purchased less by the people' instead of 'less frequently purchased' or 'in online' instead of 'online'. You rely on basic vocabulary like 'easy', 'good', and 'things'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to technology and publishing, such as 'digital transformation', 'obsolescence', or 'cost-prohibitive'. Spelling errors like 'avilable' and 'easliy' also occur, which slightly distracts the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'books should carry'), incorrect preposition use, and missing articles. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'So, that these can access through online by the help of links'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction before attempting more complex structures. Ensure that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb, and pay closer attention to the use of articles (a/an/the) and prepositions.
