IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 7.0)
In the upcoming time, people will stop to read from newspapers and books because anyone can read everything on the internet without spending a single penny. I largely agree with this statement because it will save your time and money. However, it may have some disadvantages in certain situations.
The primary reason I largely agree with this view is that one can save a valuable amount of money as well as prestige time. This is because u don't have to buy any book from a market and waste time searching for a particular book or a newspaper. In result, you can access any book for free sitting at home on internet without having any trouble. For instance, readers living in remote areas can read or access resources without travelling to major cities to buy it. Additionally, it is easier to carry online devices rather than a book which occupies space.
Although I largely support this view, it may create some disadvantages for certain individuals who have weak eyesight or feel headache while looking at the screen. This may occur because some people don't use screens to prevent themselves from headache and do want to wear eyeglasses. However, this limitation is relatively minor and does not outweigh the overall benefits.
In conclusion, although it can cause difficulties for some people who have problem with their eyesight, I largely agree that in future most people will stop buying printed newspapers and books and will read online because of the easy accessibility of resources.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, expressing a clear position throughout. The main ideas—cost-effectiveness, convenience, and the counter-argument regarding health—are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument about 'prestige time' is vague, and the discussion on health could be more nuanced. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or deeper analysis rather than relying on general statements. Overall, the response is well-focused on the topic and maintains a consistent stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In the upcoming time', 'The primary reason', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the benefits and the counter-argument is functional but could be more sophisticated. Referencing is generally clear, though the use of 'u' instead of 'you' is an informal error that affects the professional tone of the writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'remote areas', 'accessibility', and 'occupies space'. However, there is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'prestige time' (likely meaning 'precious time') and 'In result' (should be 'As a result'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and avoid informal abbreviations like 'u'. The range is sufficient for the task but lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'stop to read' (should be 'stop reading'), 'feel headache' (should be 'get a headache'), and 'do want to wear' (should be 'do not want to wear'). Punctuation is mostly accurate, but the sentence structure could be more varied to demonstrate better control. The errors present do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on verb patterns and article usage would be beneficial.
