Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 190 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For example, you mention that people use mobile phones and laptops to read online, but you do not explore the counter-argument or the nuances of why printed media might persist (e.g., tactile experience, reliability, or digital fatigue). Because the response is under-length and the ideas are under-developed, it does not fully address all parts of the task in the required detail.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions between ideas are often missing or mechanical, such as starting sentences with 'In early' or 'Today'. The use of cohesive devices is very limited, making the flow feel disjointed. For instance, the transition from the historical context to the modern day is abrupt. To improve, you should use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') to connect your sentences and paragraphs more fluidly, ensuring that the reader can follow your argument without effort.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple terms like 'good', 'read', and 'things'. There is little attempt to use less common or academic vocabulary appropriate for an IELTS essay. For example, phrases like 'science and technology has changed' and 'no wide range internet' are imprecise. To achieve a higher score, you need to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'digital transformation', 'accessibility', 'obsolescence', or 'convenience'. Expanding your range of collocations will help you express your ideas with greater precision and style.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'In early, our elders read...' (should be 'In the past') and 'science and technology is upgraded internet is good' (a run-on sentence). Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are also problematic, such as 'no one read newspapers' instead of 'no one reads'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of complex sentence structures and the presence of frequent errors limit the score. You should focus on using subordinating conjunctions and varied sentence patterns to demonstrate better control.
