IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
World is moving very fast nowadays with modern technologies. I could not agree more on this that we will be able to read everything we want online without oaying any additonal charges to anyone. Reasons will be given below to support my answer.
I beleive that in this advanced world everything should be accessible to every human being without facing any difficulties. So why should we not abandon the old ideas of mankind and just move on to make our life a little bit easier. Upcoming years will be considered the peak of modrenization on this plannet. Including this fact, that no one will have to buy printed newspaper or books in order to read it and to get information out of it.
Everything will be available online wether it's books, novels or newspaper. Physical difficulties will be lessen. We will get whatever information about any specific topic in this entire universe in just one click. The biggest advantage is that we can read it anytime so we don't have to worry about time managment and our busy schedule.
Whenever, we feel like reading something we can just search it out and the we are good to go. There is also some drawbacks to this modernization that screentime will increase dramatically and the libraries will be empty soon and no one will be interested to read physical books.
To sum up, Still it's better to be have every crucial thing available on your personal device. I consider it always a blessing because people now have options to choose accordingly. Indeed it is benificial to us in several ways.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited. While you argue that online access is beneficial, the essay lacks depth regarding the economic or practical implications of 'without paying.' The argument that 'everything should be accessible' is a personal opinion rather than a balanced analysis of the prompt's premise. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the points made. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides concrete examples or logical reasoning to support your claims rather than relying on general statements about modernization.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Whenever,' 'Indeed,' 'To sum up'). Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, such as the shift from the benefits of online reading to the drawbacks in the fourth paragraph. The logical progression is present but could be smoother with a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to connect ideas across sentences. Paragraphing is used, but the internal flow within paragraphs needs more attention to detail.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good to go,' 'things,' and 'difficulties.' There are also some spelling errors (e.g., 'oaying,' 'beleive,' 'modrenization,' 'plannet,' 'wether,' 'benificial') and minor word choice issues (e.g., 'physical difficulties will be lessen' should be 'physical burdens will be lessened'). To achieve a higher score, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to technology and media consumption.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'I could not agree more on this that,' 'Still it's better to be have,' and 'There is also some drawbacks.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and spacing after punctuation marks. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
