IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate regarding whether the traditional print industry for books is on route of extension, driven by the absolute availability of cost-free e-books. I completely agree with this statement that printed newspaper and books will become cost-free in future because cost-less content offers unparalleled accessibility and convenience rather physical format cannot match that.
The primary argument supporting my stance involves vanishing superior convenience and efficiency. To clarify this phenomenon occurs due to the fact that carrying multiple physical books or a bunch of newspapers is extremely hard, whereas a single smartphone can store an entire library. Consequently it inevitably leads to total extinction of the printing industry. A primary example of this can be seen in foreign universities, where students now rely on e-textbooks rather than buying it from the library for 200 to 300 dollars. Thus, this clearly demonstrates why this trend must be viewed as highly advantageous.
Furthermore, another critical aspect to consider is abundance of free social media. In other words, if individuals or authorities embrace this approach, it established s framework where there are millions of free videos, websites and apps where creators share information on daily bases for free. To illustrate historical date from various developed nations highlights how people can get all the information and news they want without paying a single cent. For instance, most young people today learn about global news, through free educational videos and online YouTube channels. Therefore, it becomes indisputable that the benefits are profound.
In conclusion, I firmly reiterate that my agreement with this notion I rooted, on both printed papers and digital books. Hence it is highly recommended that policy actively supports this movement to guarantee a long-term societal program.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed the prompt by taking a clear position and providing supporting arguments. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention convenience and the abundance of free online content, the arguments could be more nuanced. For instance, you focus heavily on the 'cost-free' aspect, but the prompt also asks about the future of printed books and newspapers in general. You tend to over-generalize, such as claiming the printing industry will face 'total extinction,' which lacks a balanced perspective. To reach a higher band, ensure you explore the counter-arguments or the complexities of why some people might still prefer physical media, rather than just stating the benefits of digital formats.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use cohesive devices like 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' and 'in other words' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. For example, the phrase 'this phenomenon occurs due to the fact that' is a bit wordy and clunky. Additionally, the referencing in the conclusion is slightly confusing; the sentence 'my agreement with this notion I rooted, on both printed papers and digital books' is grammatically unclear and disrupts the flow of your final summary. Improving the precision of your linking phrases will help your writing sound more natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'unparalleled accessibility,' 'indisputable,' and 'profound.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations. For example, 'on route of extension' is incorrect; you likely meant 'on the verge of extinction.' 'Cost-less' is not standard English, and 'daily bases' should be 'daily basis.' These errors indicate a lack of precision in your vocabulary usage. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that the words you choose are used in the correct context to convey your meaning accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'rather physical format cannot match that' (missing a conjunction or preposition), 'it established s framework' (incorrect verb tense and typo), and 'my agreement with this notion I rooted' (incorrect syntax). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed with proper grammatical markers.
