Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a position, but the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention both sides of the argument, the ideas are not fully extended. For instance, you mention that people prefer physical books for 'general knowledge' and 'traditions,' but this is not deeply explored. The conclusion is slightly confusing, as it suggests people will 'purchase' newspapers in the future, which contradicts the prompt's premise about the shift to online media. To improve, ensure your supporting points are more detailed and that your conclusion clearly restates your position in relation to the prompt's specific claim about free online content.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To embark with' are not standard English for starting an essay. Transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors. For example, the transition from discussing physical newspapers to the benefits of technology is a bit sudden. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words (e.g., 'Furthermore,' 'Conversely,' 'Consequently') would help the reader follow your argument more smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choice, such as 'without paying money' (instead of 'free of charge') and 'social media has became more benefit' (instead of 'beneficial'). You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated topic-specific vocabulary related to digital media, such as 'digitisation,' 'accessibility,' 'subscription models,' or 'tangible media.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('social media has became'), article usage ('the printed newspaper will purchase'), and word order ('People can easy to watch'). While the meaning is usually clear, these persistent errors demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the correct use of modal verbs and verb tenses, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
