Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument, but the development is somewhat superficial. While you state you 'partly agree,' the arguments for both sides lack depth and specific evidence. The example of 'Aaj Tak' is relevant, but the explanation of why printed media will persist is not fully explored. Furthermore, the response is 248 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. This under-length impacts the overall development of your ideas, as the conclusion is rushed and repetitive. To improve, ensure you expand on your reasoning with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for full task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is sometimes hindered by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover,' 'In addition,' and 'To conclude,' but these are often used mechanically. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed; for example, the shift from discussing physical books to social media in the second paragraph lacks a smooth transition. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the structure of the conclusion is slightly confusing as it repeats the 'partly agree' sentiment twice. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus will enhance coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms such as 'important,' 'useful,' and 'good.' There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'social media has became more benefit' (should be 'beneficial') and 'provides useful information and convenient' (should be 'convenience'). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'traditional trend' and 'digital sources,' the overall range is limited. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'newspapers are more important... because they can know about news' (the subject 'they' is ambiguous), 'social media become more popular' (tense error), and 'gives an entertainments' (article/pluralization error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization after periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of subject-verb agreement and article usage.
