Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'uneducated' people listening to news is not well-linked to the prompt's focus on the future of printed media. The ideas are under-developed, and the conclusion simply restates the prompt rather than synthesizing your arguments. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples or logical reasoning to reach the required length and provide a more comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'in this era' or 'to begin'. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logic within paragraphs is weak, particularly in the second body paragraph where the transition between 'uneducated' people and 'old people' is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'read', 'books', and 'internet'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'news paper' (newspaper), 'genneration' (generation), and 'eyeside' (eyesight). The phrasing is often unnatural, for example, 'watch books on internet' or 'listen newspaper'. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary, including collocations and topic-specific terms related to digital media and publishing, while ensuring accurate spelling and word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('some people says', 'people has no time'), article usage ('on internet' instead of 'on the internet'), and sentence structure. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with irregular capitalization and missing commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and the appropriate use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
