Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you argue that digital content is preferred due to cost and convenience, the supporting examples (e.g., 'in America' and 'in Japan') are vague and lack depth. The argument relies heavily on the assumption that all content will be free, which is a significant over-generalization that weakens the logical development of the essay. To improve, focus on providing more nuanced arguments, such as the impact on publishing industries or the convenience of e-readers, rather than repeating the idea of 'free' content in every paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion,' which help structure the text, but the internal flow within paragraphs is often disjointed. For instance, the transition between the mention of mobile phones and the example of America is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'digital print of it' in the introduction, where the antecedent is not clearly defined. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'digital things,' 'digital documents,' and 'digital platforms.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'digital print of it' and 'technologic improvement' (should be 'technological advancement'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'digitization,' 'accessibility,' 'tangible media,' or 'subscription-based models,' and avoid using the same basic adjectives repeatedly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most individuals relying on'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'spending their time in mobile phones'). The sentence 'In America, in past time people are purchasing books...' shows a lack of control over verb tenses, as it mixes past and present incorrectly. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct tense usage, and proofreading for small errors like missing prepositions or incorrect pluralization.
