IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
At the outset, I would agree with this statement that nobody will buy the printed newspapers or books to read as everything will be online however some resources will be charged by digital paying, In my perspective it won't be for free of cost and the website that will provide the sources had to earn money in some of the other way to pay their staff. Additionally the amount of deforesting the environment to just make papers will be reduced as newspaper or books in my understanding is a one time use because no one reads it once they did until you get paid to reuse them for instance the education staff , writers, poets conversely the field of law or doctors since they need to redo their ability and skills. Virtual resource is beneficial to an extent however it plays crucial role in the networking system and I assume it can apparently increase the screen time for the regular readers which can lead to health issues. Talking about the networking, towers, network will ne needed to get installed which can effect the birds and the creators up in the sky.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 191 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address the prompt by expressing a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient detail or examples. For instance, the point about environmental impact and the mention of health issues are introduced but not fully explored or linked back to the core question of whether people will stop buying physical media. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more depth and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, consisting of only one long block of text. This makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Additionally' and 'conversely', the flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and run-on sentences. The logical connection between the idea of digital resources and the environmental impact of network towers is tenuous. To improve, you should organize your essay into clear paragraphs—an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion—and use transition words more effectively to link your ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band score. You use some repetitive or imprecise phrasing, such as 'free of cost' and 'in some of the other way'. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'deforesting the environment' (deforestation) and 'digital paying' (digital payment). To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary and collocations, and ensure that your word choices are accurate and appropriate for an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with sentence structure, such as comma splices and run-on sentences (e.g., '...paying, In my perspective...'). You also struggle with verb tense consistency and article usage, such as 'the website that will provide the sources had to earn money' and 'newspaper or books... is a one time use'. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and punctuation will help improve your accuracy.
