Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding environmental benefits is relevant but lacks depth, and the claim that all online content will be 'free' is an overgeneralization that ignores subscription models and paywalls. While the response covers the main points, the supporting arguments could be more nuanced and better substantiated with more sophisticated reasoning. The conclusion summarizes the main points but introduces new information regarding the 'reliability' of the internet, which should have been integrated into the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'To exemplify it', though some are used mechanically or slightly incorrectly (e.g., 'behind that it is a danger'). Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion, which helps the reader follow the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that transitions between sentences feel more natural and less repetitive.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices or non-standard collocations, such as 'physical contents of knowledge', 'economically free', and 'people being keen to it'. Some phrasing is repetitive, and the student struggles with accurate word forms (e.g., 'it being caused our natural vegetation'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of errors in word choice limit the score. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary and focusing on natural collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('printed newspaper or books reflects'), article usage, and sentence fragments ('One predominant advantage to environment'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement and capitalization. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors in articles and prepositions.
