Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is an undeniable fact that printed books and newspaper plays an important role in people's live to share information and knowledge. In this modern era, digital books and newspapers are in demand as people find more easy to use. I disagree that with this view because digital books are more popular because of convenience and affordability but there are many people who value printed books and newspaper.

To begin with, digital content is more cheaper and easy to access because of this features it is more popular in today's contemporary. As this online books and papers can be available on their smartphones, Televisions and tablets provide instant access at any place. Digital newspapers is updated continuously which is not possible in printed newspapers. As a result, people can get information but their country and other country within few minutes. Online content do not require paper to printed on so it helps in environment concerns.

However, printed books and newspapers are unlikely to disappear entirely. Many people value physical books because they provide a distraction-free reading experience. Printed materials can also be used without electricity or an internet connection. For instance, people may still purchase novels, textbooks or special-edition books because they want to own a physical copy. Thus, digital media may replace much of the market, but it is unlikely to eliminate printed materials completely.

To conclude, people values both mediums printed as well as online. I believe that people should not stop to use printed books and newspaper because it holds cultural and economic value.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You acknowledge the convenience of digital media while arguing that printed materials will persist due to their unique value. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the mention of distraction-free reading and the lack of need for electricity. However, the development could be more nuanced; for example, the argument regarding 'not paying' for online content is not fully addressed in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that every part of the prompt—specifically the 'without paying' aspect—is explicitly discussed to provide a more comprehensive argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'However', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'because of this features it is more popular'. Additionally, there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this', 'these') is precise will help improve the overall cohesion of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary', 'instant access', and 'distraction-free'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'more cheaper' (a double comparative error) and 'people find more easy to use'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for common adjectives and avoiding redundant comparative structures. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to media and technology would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'books and newspaper plays', 'people values') and article usage. The phrase 'more cheaper' is a significant error in comparative structure. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of your main points. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that comparative adjectives are formed correctly.
