In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Reading books and newspaper is good habit but in future nobody will buy printed newspapers because they will able to read everthing online . i will not completely agreed with this point of view and discuss both .

on first hand ,Many peoples are like to read books , newspapers etc. online because they don,t have extra time and money to bought these things . now a day many persons have not enough time to bought a book or newspaer to get information. for example my father reads articles online at night according to his taste ,

on second hand, in the world thier are many people who liked to read printed newspaper and books because it would help them to read it at any time or at any place .

furthermore reading news online will not need extra reading ability of persons and also save their money.

moreover in many countries people are reading books online to save their time .

But many old persons are happy to read printed books and newspaper .

in my opinion , if we have extra time and money than we read printed newspapers and books but if we dont have extra money and time then we will read books online.

To conclude , not all persons read newspapers online ,many people in this world read newpapers and books in printed form in fact some speacial books are not available online .if we want to read those books than we will have to bought it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument regarding printed versus online media. However, the development of ideas is quite limited and repetitive. The position is stated in the introduction but remains somewhat unclear throughout the body paragraphs, as the arguments lack depth and specific examples. The conclusion attempts to summarize the points but does not fully synthesize the argument. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure your position is consistently maintained and clearly articulated in every paragraph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'on first hand', 'on second hand', and 'furthermore', but these are often used incorrectly or in a mechanical way. Paragraphing is present but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, with sentences often feeling disconnected. The progression of ideas is not always logical, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and form, such as 'bought' instead of 'buy' and 'peoples' instead of 'people'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, relying on simple, everyday language. There are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'everthing', 'speacial'). To improve, you should work on learning collocations and synonyms for common words to avoid repetition and increase the precision of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'Many peoples are like to read'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they will able to'), and punctuation errors. These errors are frequent and sometimes impede the clarity of the message. While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and modal verbs, before attempting more complex structures.
