Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention convenience and cost as reasons for the decline of printed media, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about inflation is mentioned but not fully explored in the context of the publishing industry. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a more detailed explanation and a concrete example to support your claims. The conclusion is brief and essentially restates the introduction without adding new insight or nuance to your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. For example, 'To commence with benefits of reading...' is grammatically incomplete. Additionally, the transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, which makes the progression of ideas feel a bit disjointed at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'modern era', 'electronic gadgets', and 'inflation'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard usage, such as 'formost' (foremost), 'etcectra' (etc.), and 'oftenly distract' (often distracted). These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your point, but they do indicate a need for more precise control over vocabulary. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('online reading not provide', 'people are oftenly distract') and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with accurate verb forms and proper punctuation.
