In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Buying newspaper or reading books have the one of the most popular hobbies in 90's. I agree to this statement to some extint. as the technology advancement is increasing day by day and the interest to buy printed media is decling.

Physical reading as it own pros one can feel the book mark the lines and keep the book as memory. People can transfer those book as physical inheritance But as one have to pay for it so, people avoid buying them.

By reading online with the advancement of technology there are many new features that can be enjoyed like audio listening and translation. but the cons of every aspect are their as by reading online writers cannot get the reward as one can read it by free there is also copywrite issue.

As environmental concerns become increasingly prevalent, it is likely that more people will turn to online reading as a way to reduce their carbon footprint. For example, by reading news articles, e-books, and reports online instead of using paper-based sources, individuals can significantly cut down on the demand for paper production, thus helping to conserve trees and reduce the energy consumed in the paper manufacturing process.

In conclusion, the future of reading appears to be in the online realm. The convenience, personalisation, and eco-friendliness of online reading make it a more appealing and practical option than traditional print media. While some may argue that print media will still have a place in society, the growing trend towards online reading suggests otherwise.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the shift toward online reading and the decline of print media. You present a clear position, although the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, while you mention the environmental benefits of digital media, the discussion on copyright and financial rewards for writers is underdeveloped and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear reasoning or examples. You have addressed all parts of the prompt, but the arguments could be more logically structured to provide a more comprehensive analysis of the 'without paying' aspect of the question.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'but the cons of every aspect are their as' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented, such as 'Physical reading as it own pros one can feel the book mark the lines'. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'nevertheless') would help create a smoother progression between your ideas and improve the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'environmental concerns', 'carbon footprint', and 'traditional print media'. However, there are several instances of word choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'extint' instead of 'extinct/extent', 'decling' instead of 'declining', and 'copywrite' instead of 'copyright'. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring the correct spelling of key terms related to the topic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Buying newspaper... have the one of the most popular'), missing articles, and incorrect punctuation. For example, 'as the technology advancement is increasing' is a sentence fragment when capitalized as a new sentence. While you attempt complex structures, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the text from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic sentence boundaries and verb forms will significantly improve your score.
