Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the convenience of online reading, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For example, the point about students needing books for exams is relevant, but it is not fully explored in the context of the 'free' aspect of the prompt. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or counter-arguments that address the economic implications of 'without paying' more thoroughly. The conclusion restates your position, but the overall argument remains somewhat superficial.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'therefore i agree' at the end of the first paragraph is abrupt, and the connection between sentences within paragraphs is sometimes weak. The use of referencing (e.g., 'it' in the first paragraph) is unclear, making it difficult to identify exactly what is being referred to. Improving the use of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'nevertheless' would help create a smoother flow between your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'reading material', 'books', and 'online'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'swap the way of reading' and 'get fail'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to technology, media, and consumer habits, and focus on using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay, including issues with sentence structure, punctuation, and subject-verb agreement. For example, 'makes everyone to read' should be 'enables everyone to read', and 'who wants to be updated' should be 'who want to be updated'. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which impacts readability. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that your punctuation, particularly the use of commas and full stops, is accurate.
