Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position on the future of printed media. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention cost-effectiveness and convenience, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about rural access is a good start but is not fully explored. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or nuanced reasoning regarding why digital media might eventually replace physical formats entirely, or perhaps counter-argue the value of physical books to show a more balanced perspective. The conclusion is a summary but does not add new insight.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'on the first hand' (should be 'on the one hand') and 'for instant' (should be 'for instance') are used incorrectly, which disrupts the flow. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by these errors, making the relationship between sentences feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words correctly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that transitions logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher score. You rely on basic terms like 'good feeling' and 'modern and advanced'. There are also frequent word-choice errors, such as 'literature' used to refer to general online content and 'went' instead of 'go' in the context of habitual actions. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to technology and publishing, such as 'digital transition', 'accessibility', or 'tangible media'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('internet provides', 'people will studying'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Sentence structures are often simple or repetitive, and there are significant punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that your verbs match the subject and tense. Practising complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, will also help you demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
