Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the future of printed media versus online content. However, the position is somewhat inconsistent; while you acknowledge the shift to online, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the argument that books are 'necessary' because they do not distract is a valid point, but it is not fully explored or supported with strong evidence. The essay tends to over-generalize, such as claiming 'most masses believe' or 'everyone' uses the internet for homework. To improve, ensure that your main position is clearly stated in the introduction and consistently supported throughout each paragraph with more nuanced reasoning rather than repetitive statements about distraction or eye strain.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'However' is used twice in the first paragraph, and 'To be concluded' is non-standard. Some sentences are linked awkwardly, such as 'As reading newspapers and books can avoid using internet and also make people to learn themselves'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by these repetitive or imprecise connectors. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'it', 'they') clearly points back to the intended noun.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'everything you find' and 'in future days'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'most masses' (which is redundant) and 'without paying penny' (missing an article). The phrase 'go deep along with their meanings' is unnatural. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to digital media and literacy, and pay closer attention to article usage and standard idiomatic expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people are largely depend'), missing articles ('on internet'), and incorrect preposition usage ('affect on eyes'). Some sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, such as the opening sentence. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles before nouns like 'internet' and 'books'.
