Everyone has access to internet nowadays and they can access all the information they need in a click of button. So, going to physical store to buy books or newspaper is difficult task, when they can access the same resource from home with ease. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position on the future of printed media. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons such as convenience and cost, the argument is slightly repetitive and lacks depth regarding the counter-argument or the nuance of why some people might still prefer physical books. The essay is somewhat over-generalized, as it assumes a total disappearance of physical media without considering the cultural or tactile value of books. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more sophisticated exploration of the topic rather than just listing reasons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'To conclude' to link your points. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there is a noticeable issue in the second paragraph where a sentence is left incomplete ('As a result, people in'). This break in flow affects the overall coherence. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that every sentence is complete will help to improve the logical flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'easy', and 'difficult'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'bearing a small cost' or 'in a click of button' (should be 'at the click of a button'). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to digital media and publishing to demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('buying newspaper', 'access to internet'), subject-verb agreement issues ('newspaper and book will obsolete'), and spelling mistakes ('beacause'). The sentence fragment in the second paragraph is a significant error that impacts the clarity of your argument. While your meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic articles and pluralization to improve your accuracy.
