Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of the statement. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding cost-saving and the convenience of technology are mentioned but not fully explored or supported with sophisticated reasoning. The essay tends to over-generalize, and the lack of specific examples or deeper analysis prevents it from reaching a higher band. The ideas are relevant, but the overall development remains superficial, which is characteristic of the Band 5 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by unclear phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While some cohesive devices like 'firstly' and 'on the other hand' are used, they are often followed by sentences that lack clear internal logic. The referencing is sometimes confusing, and the flow between ideas feels mechanical rather than natural. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument consistently.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. The student frequently uses the word 'staff' incorrectly (e.g., 'tech staff' instead of 'technology' or 'devices') and relies on basic, informal language like 'chick' (likely meant 'check') and 'pubic' (likely meant 'public'). There is a lack of precision, and the misuse of words often forces the reader to guess the intended meaning. To improve, the student needs to focus on using more academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'books are not has to read'), sentence fragments, and incorrect word order. Complex structures are attempted but are almost always faulty, leading to confusion. Simple sentences are also prone to errors in punctuation and tense usage. The high frequency of errors throughout the text makes it difficult to read and indicates a lack of control over basic grammatical structures.
