IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The increasing availability of electronic content has led some individuals to foresee that printed newspapers and books will eventually disappear because everything will be at hand online for free. I completely disagree with this statement, because although computerized media will turn more and more

superior. printed works are not likely to evaporate entirely.

There is no uncertainty that online reading offers important advantages. Automated print and e-books are convenient, transportable and often cheap.

Persons can approach information immediately by means of smart devices and tablets and computer devices while virtual news can be bettered. Moreover, online publications are more affordable and easier to buy and sell because they do not need paper, printing or shipping, transportation. Therefore, consumers especially young people may like digital ways.

However, it is impractical to think that no one will buy leaflet publications in the hereafter. Many readers still like to read books and turning its pages. Books do not need wi-fi or data to function and require fewer interruptions

than digital applications. Most people find that reading from paper helps them focus and recall information more effectively. Newspapers may continue to attract readers who like a handed down way. Furthermore, online data will not necessarily remain cost free. Producing dependable journalism and good quality books needs investments, which points toward subscriptions, advertisements and pay walls.

In conclusion, while free digital content will certainly reduce demand for printed publications and books, i completely disagree with the view that printed publications will vanish. But their physical and distraction free nature will ensure that they preserve a position in society.
