IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
I Definitely agree to the statement that people will be able to read everything online without paying for newspapers or books as it is easily accessible.
In detail, people who have access to internet can easily view the latest news or read books available online as they give them free and easy access to read and explore more options. They can read about any kind of news online by just searching it and writing in a search engine whereas in newspaper they get a static or printed information to read.
I also believe that it will save cost of buying newspapers and books. Also it will save the paper wastage. As we all know that papers are being made from woods by cutting trees.
which can be a good option for ecofriendly.
There are wide range of books and readable content which is available online to study or read which is cost free .there are some websites and applications as well which gives easy access as well for example YouTube, Google and much more they are the highly used applications where anyone can visit free of cost . People can visit YouTube and watch vedios related to any kind of news around the world. Moreover, they can also study about the books and their respective authors.
For some old age people newspapers are convenient option as some of them don't have knowledge to access internet . Also some don't have access to laptops or smart phones for example , at my home my grandparents prefer to read books and newspaper as they don't have access to smart phones so they find it as more convenient option.
In conclusion, I believe reading everything from online source is a great platform to enhance knowledge as well to make it cost effective.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention environmental benefits and cost-effectiveness, the arguments lack depth and specific examples of how the publishing industry might adapt or why the 'free' aspect is guaranteed. The counter-argument regarding the elderly is relevant but could be better integrated to strengthen your overall position. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the implications of your claims rather than simply stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In detail', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which help the reader follow your argument. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. The connection between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a more natural flow. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, though the paragraph about the elderly could be more effectively linked to the main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'ecofriendly', 'search engine', and 'cost effective'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'save cost of buying' instead of 'reduce the expense of purchasing'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'vedios' (spelling) and 'static or printed information'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and precise academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the internet', 'the newspapers'), incorrect preposition usage, and punctuation issues (e.g., the sentence fragment 'which can be a good option for ecofriendly'). Subject-verb agreement is occasionally inconsistent. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of articles would significantly enhance your writing.
