In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In Prospective era, traditional papers and books will be outdated as audience could be empowered access to digital reading for free . In this essay , i totally agree with this stance.
Basically, Technology has taken over world and this has greatly affected the hard copy publication companies because the use of modern devices such as phones, laptops. television sets, radio has given a lot of people access to information online without having the need to buy a hard copy. The internet has made it easy for people to digest whatever they want , whenever they want it without paying a dime for it. Storage of hard copy press is also a reason why a lot of individuals prefer pursuing information on digital platforms, They just read and delete on tab instead of keeping the hard copies which occupies space over time. Moreover , the cost of purchasing literary volumes is very high and a lot of people cannot pay all that for a book ,but using the internet , they can have access to this monographs without spending a penny. However when they purchase the printed edition , they will not be able to study anywhere they want because they don't want to carry paper around. Using digital devices, they can read anywhere even in the supermarket.
In Summary , buying paper journal has some merits such as increased reading focus , and little dependence on web based studying. i strongly believe that reading online has more benefits and cheap.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention cost and convenience, the argument that everything will be free online is a significant over-generalisation that weakens the logic of your position. The task asks to what extent you agree, and while you state your agreement, the counter-argument in the conclusion is not fully integrated into the main body, leading to a slight imbalance. To improve, ensure your supporting points are more nuanced and avoid making absolute claims that are easily challenged, such as the assumption that all digital content will remain free.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is sometimes mechanical. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Basically' and 'Moreover', but the transition between the benefits of digital reading and the drawbacks of physical books is abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where you switch between discussing digital devices and the cost of books without a smooth logical progression. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is very brief and lacks the depth required to effectively summarise the preceding arguments. Improving the use of linking phrases will help the ideas connect more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'empowered', 'monographs', and 'literary volumes'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'Prospective era' (likely meaning 'In the modern era') and 'pursuing information' (where 'accessing' would be more appropriate). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the use of 'cheap' in the conclusion is too informal for an academic essay. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your vocabulary choices are consistently formal and accurate in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'Technology has taken over world' (missing an article), 'without having the need to buy' (wordy), and 'this monographs' (number disagreement). Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with spaces before commas and periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement, article usage, and standard punctuation rules to improve your accuracy.
