Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, online has become a common part of modern life. Some people believe that this development has many benefits, while other people think it can create some problems. This essay will discuss both point of views. In my opinion is that read online news paper and book are able as compared to print media.
On the one hand, there are many people agree that read everything are online without paying. Firstly, it can make people life easier, convenient. People can save their time and complete their daily task more quickly. Secondly, it can provide batter opportunities for education, work and personal development. For example, most people can watch and read news, entertainment, at homes easily and they cannot pay extra bill for it, they can achieve their goals by using read online. Therefore, it is clear that online reading can have positive effect on the people lives.
On the other hand, mostly people disagree with it. they can think that it is not good for everyone. For example, internet bill is expensive and individual cannot afford it easily. As a result, they may face difficulties it is not available. Another reason is that it can sometime have a negative effect on people may spend less time communicating with their family and friends also.
In conclusion, both are important for society. Although it can make life easier and provide useful opportunities, in my opinion the best approach is to use it in a responsible and balanced manners.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but fails to fully develop the argument. The position is somewhat unclear, as the introduction mentions discussing both points of view rather than taking a firm stance on the extent of agreement. Furthermore, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the ideas presented. The arguments regarding the cost of internet and the social impact are relevant but remain superficial. To improve, you should ensure your position is clearly stated in the introduction and maintained throughout, and provide more detailed, specific examples to support each main point.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand'). There are also issues with referencing; for example, in the conclusion, 'both are important' is vague because it is unclear what 'both' refers to in the context of the prompt. The progression of ideas is logical, but the transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'make people life easier' and 'provide better opportunities'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'read online news paper and book are able' and 'in a responsible and balanced manners'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to technology and media, and ensure you use words in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'In my opinion is that read online news paper and book are able' and 'mostly people disagree with it'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement ('there are many people agree') and article usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence patterns before attempting more complex structures.
