Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of online reading. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention cost and accessibility, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about comparing prices is not fully explained, and the example cited regarding the Oxford University study is vague and lacks a clear connection to the argument. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, well-reasoned arguments that explore the implications of the shift to digital media, rather than simply restating that it is 'cheap' and 'accessible' multiple times.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical and sometimes confusing. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', but they are often followed by run-on sentences or awkward phrasing that disrupts the logical progression. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'apart from these, is is easy to read', where the antecedent is ambiguous. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the necessary cohesion to guide the reader smoothly through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'cheap', 'read', and 'books'. While there is an attempt to use more sophisticated language with words like 'multifarious', 'vehemently', and 'espouse', these are sometimes used incorrectly or in unnatural collocations (e.g., 'upcoming time' instead of 'the future', 'fewer costly' instead of 'less expensive'). To improve, focus on using vocabulary that is appropriate for an academic context and ensure that words are used in their correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('people wants', 'books is'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms ('hand made printed newspaper'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when you attempt complex constructions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with many missing commas and periods, leading to run-on sentences. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that punctuation is used correctly to separate distinct thoughts.
