IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a growing discussion about decline in the purchase of printed media and books in the future because people will be able to source for free information on the internet. Personally, I disagree with this trend because of the people who live at the countryside and the cost of data.
The main reason for my view is because of people who reside in the rural area and they don't have knowledge about internet. This mean majority of villages are still living a dark age where technology haven't reach them, so it will be difficult for them to use internet in getting information or a current news about their nation. Although, if technology could reach them in the future, they might be able to get information online. For instance, Most people living in the rural areas in Nigeria still invest in newspapers, so newspapers are been transported to them regularly.
Another significant reason to hold this position is the exorbitant prices of data subscriptions. This is because data subscriptions are now expensive than libraries registration and books prices, so an increasing number of people still prefer to purchase novel or become a member of a library. For example, a monthly data subscription on one of the major service provider in Nigeria is five thousand naira which can be used to purchase two books and also this data won't last up to a month before it finish. Therefore, due to unaffordability of data subscriptions some people might still prefer printed media and books.
In conclusion, the primary driver for my disagreement on replacement of printed media and books with internet information and E-books in the future is that some people who reside in the villages still lack network provider and the exorbitant prices of data can prolong the use of printed newspapers and books.

The logical progression is present, but the essay would benefit from a more sophisticated range of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly within paragraphs.
