IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the upcoming times, the readers my switch to online platforms for reading a newspaper or books instead of reading them physically. The will be no need of spending money on newspapers, because they can read it online without any expense.
The individuals are adapting to the newer and advanced technology which provides them comfort in many various aspects. People always choose the option which is more reliable to them, for instance, an individual who is fond of reading newspaper daily and books several times a week, that person buys newspaper daily in order to be up to date with the current situtaions, but after getting aware about the free availablility of newpaper online he switched to online reading which saves him a lot of money and time.
I agree with the given statement, in the future when everybody will be able to read books and newspaper online, nobody will buy them physically. However the people who will be in favour of paper reading, they will keep reading it physically without switching to online like others. It will be benefitial for the environment. For instance, the less newspaper and books will be produced the less trees will be cut and also will reduce in the water usage to make the papers, the storage will be more easy, as a result environment will heal and can solve many environmental problems.
In conclusion, having online newspapers and books can be benfitial for some and harmful for some. Increasing technology will definately lead to increased number of online readers than the offline readers.
