IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that no one is going to purchase printed newspapers and books in upcoming era due to the free access of online books and articles. However, I firmly agree with the statement that nobody is going to buy printed material because everything is available free of cost online.
To begin with, one of the most significant reason is that everything and every material related to books and newspapers is available online in different websites in the shape of pdf's. Then why should someone is going to buy these things and spend their money for something which is already available free of cost. For instance, if someone is willing to buy a book, instead of going outside and waste their time and money as well , he just go online, search that book and download the pdf of that particular book.
Moreover, another crucial factor to consider is that everybody wants to purchase different types of products while staying at the home in the future. Specially, if the product is available free of cost in the internet like different books, newspapers and articles are also available online. Everyone wants to save their time and money as well. As we are talking about future this should definitely increase in the coming era due to the advanced technology and the power of artificial intelligence people are more reliable to use these type of advance technology.
In conclusion, although some may argue that people will buy printed newspapers and books in the future but I strongly believe that no one will purchase printed media because of the reasons discussed above.
