IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In upcoming years everyone will be able find anything to read like books and newspaper easily and free through internet due to this pysical access of this material will be useless because nobody will be interested in buying those. I do not agree with this statement because printed material cannot be obsolete.
Firstly I would like to explain the theory behind this type of thinking after an advancement in technology some people start to think that a particular thing will loose its importance and will fade away with time but it is not the case for physical existence of books and newspapers and the reason is that they are more effective in reading and learning from rather than online material which has negative effects of its own not because of the data but through medium which provide the access of this non-physical format of any data.
Secondly If we dive deeper into the debate that no one will by anything because every thing will be available for free in feature related to books and newspaper it is also not the case because giving free access of everything means that company or business providing the data will not benefit and their business or company will loose its establishment which no one can let to happen due to many obvious reasons. Also providing free access to everything can be great deal and loss for any business because it is against the strategy of doing successful and profitable work.
Overall in future there will still be paperback physicall availabilty of books and newspapers because not everyone like to use digital mediums to read due to other effects of using technology instead of just reading from it which are indirectly effect on one's physical and health.
