IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that printed newspaper and books will disappear in the future because all reading material will bee available online free of cost. While I agree that digital publications will become increasingly pupolar, I do not believe that all printed material will vanish away thoroughly. On the one hand, technology made enormous development and made online reading more convenient than ever. People can access thousands of bools, newspapers, and magazines instantly through smartphones, tablets and computers. Furthermore amany websites provide free sources to quench the thurst of knowledge just by a single click. Anybody can find and search anything from anywhere easily without paying. Digital media is environmently friendly without instant charges. As internet access continues to expand, electronic resources are more reliable and convienent.
On the the other hand, some people like to read books and newspapers in printed form to enjoy the reading. Students and researchers feel simpler to get the printed content to check and highlight the important point to memorize the information. Old people also loves to read printed papers. In addition, not all the resourcec are free on internet. Publishers, auther and journalists want to get earnings frome their work so they limited the access. Some websites are also required paid tools. Therefore its is unrealistic to expect that all reading material become freely available.
To sumup the discussion I would say that printed books often have cultural and emotional value and place in the society. Many people enjoy collecting books, giving them as gifts or keeping them as personal possessions. These qualities cannot be fully replaced by digital alternatives.
