IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the future, most people will rely on online reading rather than buying physical books or newspapers. I strongly agree with this view because of increasing use of technology and the greater convenience of digital books.
First and foremost, People will read more online books because use of technology is increasing day by day. Nowadays, people spend most of their times on their phones and digital devices, so reading online may become a natural part of their lives. E-book also has several benefits such as different font sizes, searching options and many more so it become easy for individual to get knowledge from reading books. For example, it become more easy for the students who are very fond of doing reseach on different topics due to the fact they can search different topics while reading which they may find interesting.
Another significant reason is that digital books are more convenient . People can access thousands of books online on their phones and tablets without carrying heavy books. Moreover, it become somehow easy for them to read their favourite books wherever they want. This is particularly useful for students or people who travel frequently. Furthermore digital books are cheaper than printed books, and many free books are also available online which help students, or those who cannot afford buying books, to get more benefits.
In conclusion, People will not buy printed newspapers or books because they will get everything online. This is mainly due to popularity of technology , people are using more technology nowadays, and convenience of E-books.
