IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the upcoming era no one will buy newspapers or books because they will be able to study everything they want online without paying. While many old people inerested in to read books or newspapers because they do not use social media, young generation gather knowledge through online platforms. In this essay i partially agree with the given statement.
Firstly, senior citizens lack the knowledge about social media use. In addition, they consider books and magazines are more reliable source of information. For example, elderly person in Pakistan usually prefer to study jhang newspaper daily.They think that books is a great source of joy and magazines are best to know about current affairs in the world. Retiree person claim that study books or newspapers are part of their tradition and culture. Reading books can reduce eyestrain and improve reading comprehension.
Secondly, young generation do not give preference to read books or newspapers.
They use online platforms to get update over everything. Social media can reduce the cost to buy a book, and search engines save time to search about numerous affects of life in newspapers. For instance, nowadays, google search engine can be use by many adults to get help about to solve different technical problems. Also, young generation claim that information on social media is more authentic and up to date with the advancement of technology.
To conclude while digital revolution will continue to shrink the publishing market, it cannot be eradicate completely. Therefore, printed books and newspapers will co-exist alongside digital formats.
