IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is considered that printed newspaper and books will be diaappear in the future because will be able to acccess informaton they need online for free. I partially agree with this view because digital media becoming increasingly popular, although printed material will still have some vlaue.
On the one hand, there are several reason why people stop buying newspaper and books. Firstly, online information is usually much more convenient and accesible, people can read artricle and saw the news on their smartphones,computer and tablets where ever they are. In addition, online contant can be updated immediately wherease printed meterial update once in a while. Secondly, there are a lot of authentic website where they privide related news fre of charge which can save people considerable amount of time and money. For example, students can find article research pepers and online books related to their subjects without purchasing physical material.
Onn the other hand, many people still read traditional materail because they find more comfortable to read and less distracting to electronic meterial. Printed material do not require batteris or interted connection to print, which make them useful to those places where modern tools were not available. Futhermore, some reader enjoy collecting books and considered them valuabe possession. For instance, many great writers and poet wrote thousand of books such as novels, academic subject books and special edition they remain popular and even more luminous in the future.
To conculde, i agree that the use of newspaper and books will drcrease significantly as online information is availabe. However, i disagree that individuals will completely buying printed material, still physical material offers alot of advantage and both are equivalent.
