IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's rapidly evolving world, technology has emerged as a trasformative force, therefore, a substantial number of individuals believe that in the foreseeable future humans will prefer to consume newspapers and books on digital mode at free of charge. I partly agree with the given statement.

To commence with, proponents emphasis the view that a waide range of websites and application offer reference materials removing any geographical barriers along with an inexpensive rates. This is because social media and virtual apps provide international materials at any place and with an immidiate response. Consequently, the unprecedented surge of technology will allow individuals to save their disposable income, by not purchasing any printed materials. Another worth-considering reason is, social media enhances inclination and captivation of readers, by accompanying visuals, comment section and videos. As a consequence, technological breakthroughs will diminish commuting time along with saving time, and getting all the materials online.

By contrast, reading online is not always feasible on account of technical challenge, because internet often requires a considerable amount of networks. Hence, consuming materials in digital applications cannot always a viable approach. Moreover, online materials can be published by everyone in the general public, enabling the dissemination of misinformation. In contrast, traditional newspapers are established compnies, which recruit journalists, professionals and editors. Subsequently, they double chack before printing any news or materials, enabling rigorous editorial standards. However, people always prefer to avoid disinformation and coverage in depth, so a large number of people utilize printed materials. For instance, according to the report of the organisation called WWR- World Wide Reference, the citizens of france, particularly professional and learners comprise a considerable amount of knowledge at high rate, since authority has restricted them to consume virtually. Admittedly, printed materials will always remain indispensable due to accurate and relevant references.
