IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
By the time technology is increased and in future, nobody will buy printed newspaper or books because by the time these things are getting outdated and still the number of book, readers and newspapers are very low, but in future, nobody will read the news or books . I am fully agree with this statement. Which I will share my views in further paragraphs.
Firstly, technology had changed everything around the world, for example, people use to travel in bullock cart but by the time, people start using bikes and cars to for their travel, and this is happened just because of the technology and as similar, those who are reading news and books physically in future, definitely, it would be changed and people start reading news and books online and stop using newspaper or books.
Further more nowadays, everything is online, for example, classes to coaching or gaining knowledge about something is all at online rather it is paid or unpaid or any subscription. Everything is online. Obvious that people would read news and stories online in the future because everything would be changed by the time.
to conclude all the my points, it is very obvious that people would use online technology to read news and stories rather than using them in their physical form. Because by the time everything is changed and new technology will cover up the physical form of books and papers, and people will stop using papers and books.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student attempts to address the prompt by agreeing with the statement that printed media will be replaced by free online content. However, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, containing only 245 words, which incurs a penalty in Task Achievement. Furthermore, the position taken is clear, but the ideas are repetitive and underdeveloped. The arguments rely heavily on generalisations regarding technological advancement without exploring nuanced viewpoints or providing robust supporting evidence. The claim that nobody will buy printed materials is stated repeatedly rather than logically expanded, keeping the score at the lower end of the band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays some basic organisational structure, utilizing paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, the overall progression is hampered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of smooth cohesive devices. Phrases such as 'By the time technology is increased' and 'to conclude all the my points' are awkward and unnatural. Transitional devices are either missing or misused, resulting in a mechanical flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical repetition of ideas disrupts the logical development of the argument, aligning with the descriptors for Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with words like 'technology', 'online', 'news', and 'books' appearing excessively throughout the text. There are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices, such as 'technology is increased', 'bullock cart', and 'classes to coaching'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic meaning, the lack of a varied lexical resource and the frequent word-choice errors impede precision and restrict the overall lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but these attempts are frequently faulty. Run-on sentences and punctuation errors are common, such as in the opening sentence and the conclusion. There are significant grammatical inaccuracies throughout, including tense confusion ('people use to travel', 'people start using'), subject-verb agreement issues, and awkward phrasing like 'those who are reading news and books physically'. Frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, though the core message remains just decipherable.
