IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Technology is making our livies simple and easy because mostly things are available online for free. Due to technology certain people argue that there will not even a single person in future who will purchase printed books and newspapers. I partially agree with this statement because indeed technology will replace these kind of things in the future but some proportion of individuals will still willing to buy printed books and newspapers.
Firstly, technology is evolving day by day and technology experts are trying to make everything easier for people and future. As we have seen that how manual work has been replaced by automation with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). In past people used to read printed books and newspaper. All these printed stuff were costly and people had to spend significant time and money for purchasing. Nowadays, mostly people who are used to with the technology can read whatever they want just after few clicks and without spending even a single penny. But in future large proportion of people will read newspapers and books through the internet.
Alternatively, some people will still relay on printed books and newpapers because people will know the worth of reading printed stuff because reading printed stuff is beneficial in some ways rather than reading online. Reading printed stuff helps to relax and makes mood more pleasent. Moreover, printed stuff does not affect eyesight directly even it improves reading habits and most of the times some books and premium news requires online payment which can be a fraud. According to some research reading printed stuff helps people to understand ideas much quickly than reading on screen.
In conclusion, creating ease for people is good and mostly people prefer but importance of printed media cannot be neglected.

Progression is visible as the student moves from the convenience of technology in the first body paragraph to the enduring appeal of print in the second. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Alternatively', and 'In conclusion', although referencing and transitions can be a bit mechanical at times ('All these printed stuff were costly'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. While logical organisation is evident, occasional awkward links prevent it from reaching a higher band, placing it comfortably at Band 6.

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'automation', 'significant', and 'beneficial'. However, there are notable limitations and recurring word choice inaccuracies, such as repeating 'printed stuff' multiple times instead of varying terminology, and minor collocation errors like 'relay on' instead of 'rely on'.
