IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the upcoming times, nobody will buy printed books or newspapers as they would be able to access everything over websites without having to pay any amount. I agree with this statement because of two major reasons. First, it saves individuals more money. Second, it saves the hassle of going to bookstores and wasting time on selection of books and other materials.
Being able to access books and newspapers online over various websites makes the life of an individual very convinient. It helps the people of today's economy save money which would help them allocate their resources on other goods of their choice. This efficiency only exists because of the developing sources that exist over the web. The availibility of online book wardrobe pages and sites which provide daily news lets people access books and newspapers of their preference without having to spend a single penny because poeple upload scanned pages of their books and newpaper reporters help keep these daily news sites updated. Thus, this factor will serve as one of the major reasons contributing to the decline of printed material.
Due to the availibility of most of the resources online and in a digital form, people save time and avoid the hassle of going from one book store to another to find a specific book that they really want. All they have to do is search the material of their choice over the web surface and they would be one click away from finding what they required. Moreover, people can conserve their money which would be used on transport and be able to spend their time on something more productive.
Overall, I believe that in the near future printed materials will not be needed anymore due to availibilty of most resources digitally and to avoid the hassle to look for preferences all around the globe.
