IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is frequently argued that printed newspapers and books will disappear because reader will be able to access all information on online free of charge. Although, digital device is becoming increasingly popular, however I disagree that printed newspaper or books will disappear entirely.
There are several reasons why printed newspaper and books will not vanish. First of all, digital devices are now available that people can get wide range of information anywhere and at any time. Second of all, electronic devices are often cheaper than printed newspaper and books because devices can not need to require papers, printing and transportations. Moreover, social media provides news with vedios instantly, which printed newspaper and books can not provides, they just provides picture.
Furthermore, some people are now read printed newspapers and books as they comfortable with them. Additionally, they do not require battery, charge, which makes people more convenient. However, most of the people are enjoy collecting books, displayed them at their house corner in bookshelf and gives them as gift. Most important thing is all online news are not available because publishers and authors do not make it free, they provides subscriptions and premium, which require cost to watch it.Nevertheless, if reader spend most of the time on screen, it may their eye, migrain, backpain etc.
Ultimately, I disagree that printed newspaper and boooks will vanish as reader feel comfort to read them on their hand and they also provides cultural value. Moreover, the majority of it is older people who read it everyday.
