IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Is is often believed that in the future individuals will stop buying printed materials because they will have access to read everything for free without paying. I completely disagree with this statement people will be buying printed materials even though there is free online opportunities because printed materials are much beneficial than online access.
First of all, printed books and newspapers are much beneficial for eyes. This means when people read books and newspapers it's not harmful for their eyes because when reading printed resources it does not release harmful light like computer or smartphone. For instance, many people say their eyesight got worsened when they started reading online books after they decided to read printed materials they realized their eyes stopped hurting. Therefore, reading printed materials are more beneficial than reading things online.
Secondly, this days there is no things such as free even though it's free we have to watch advertisement which can be very dangerous because many free resource offering sites sponser suspicious websites such as betting and even spam sites. For example, there is many websites where people can download free books but before downloading you have to watch advertisement and must download 5 files that contain research or books. Thus, even there is free online resources i don't think it is useful than printed materials.
In conclusion, i firmly disagree with this view because in the future people still be buying printed materials because it has many advantages and online free resources are very hard to trust.
