IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the future every knowledge including news, magazines as well as book and almost everthing in the world would be available online so there will be no need to pay for physical book or printed newspapers anymore. I strongly agree with this statement because we can experience the e-newspapers and online reading now so it may be more developed in upcoming days than it is now.
On the one hand, people argue that in future there will be no need of printed newspapers and books anymore. This is because the social media and internet is taking over everything including the knowledge available in physical books now and the podcasts that we often see on the tv or the newspapers that we read. There is also another reason that on the internet every knowledge of the world is available and one can access to any article he wants to read free of cost he dont even need to pay a single penny for it. For enstance, i want to read yesterdays news i can go search it online and read it, there is no need to pay for the newspapers.
On the other hand, I agree with that, and I believe that it is beneficial for the society especially for students and for poor who cannot afford high tution coasts and cannot afford books. It is also important that people all over the world could be aware of eachothers and know the situation of their country if they are abroad and can also contact with their families.
In conclusion, Although the internet had proved to be a free educational serves, I think in future it can be proved more helpful for humans.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position of agreement with the statement that printed media will be replaced by free online content. The ideas are presented throughout the essay, but the development remains somewhat superficial and repetitive, particularly regarding the benefits to students and the poor. While the writer attempts to support their view with examples such as searching for yesterday's news, the extension of these ideas is limited, and some irrelevant points about contacting families are introduced. This places the response comfortably at Band 5.5, as it addresses the prompt adequately but lacks the deeper elaboration, well-supported arguments, and full extension required for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, showing some structural awareness. However, the overall progression is sometimes disrupted by loose transitions and tangent ideas, such as mentioning contacting families in the second body paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often basic or repetitive, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' (which is misused here, as both paragraphs actually support the writer's agreement). Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs can be mechanical or unclear. This aligns with Band 5.0, where organization is present but overall progression and logical relationships are sometimes faulty or lacking.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited vocabulary range that is minimally adequate for the task. There are several imprecise word choices and awkward collocations, such as 'every knowledge', 'physical book', and 'tution coasts'. Spelling and morphological errors are noticeable, including 'everthing', 'enstance', 'yesterdays', and 'serves'. While the intended meaning usually gets through, these lexical inaccuracies and the lack of sophisticated or less common vocabulary prevent the writing from achieving a higher mark. This performance reflects the descriptors for Band 5.0, characterized by a limited vocabulary range and noticeable errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures frequently contain errors. There are numerous grammatical inaccuracies involving subject-verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, such as 'every knowledge... would be available', 'he dont even need', and the run-on sentence structure in the opening paragraph. Punctuation is also weak, with missing apostrophes and capitalization issues. Although the meaning can generally be deciphered, the frequency of errors is high enough to impede smooth reading. This corresponds to Band 5.0, where frequent errors in grammar and sentence structure occur and can cause difficulty for the reader.
