IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In few years people will use new technology to read newspaper or books without any charges and do not use hard copies of it. I,completely agree with this statement.

One of the most convincing reason behind my agreement is that newspaper and variety of books are available on different online platform and that is free of cost. Moreover in near future people life is going to be very busy so most of the people will preffer to read news on mobile phones or they will watch it on tv rather than to read it.

Not only this, many of the social media app provide different kind of news on it very rapidly. So from this people do not have to wait for the newspaper print to delivered in their homes. However it is time saving also because people do not have to go to the shops to buy books.

On the other hand some senior citizen who have habbit of reading book and newspaper physically will not use online platforms for it. They find problem to operate the online platform

The vocabulary used is adequate to communicate basic ideas about technology and reading habits, utilizing phrases like "new technology," "free of cost," and "social media app." However, the range is limited and repetitive, and there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as "In few years" instead of "In a few years," "hard copies of it," and "habbit" (spelling error). The writer attempts less common vocabulary, but inaccurate control restricts the lexical score to a Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay exhibits a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but grammatical control is weak. There are frequent errors in articles, pluralisation, and subject-verb agreement, such as "convincing reason" instead of "convincing reasons," "newspaper print to delivered," and "They find problem to operate." Punctuation errors also appear, including unnecessary comma splices ("I,completely agree").
