IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued that nobody will buy newspapers or books in the future because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. Although some people prefer digital books for convenience and affordable. I completely disagree with this view beacuse traditional books offer greater concentration and comfortable.
One of the main reasons is that physical books improve concentration for everyone. While reading books or newspapers it provides flexibility reading and it is easy to mark the important sentences. For example, grandparents have accessible to historical books and newspapers which provide covenient to them because they don't know about the online books or materials. It is also comfortable for eyes. In addition, children can easily acquire knowledge by watching the diagrams from the traditional books rather than the electronic books. As a result, they can enhance their skills and discipline.
Another significant reason is that it is affordable. Nowadays it is easy for everyone to access materials or books from online without charging fee but some individuals cannot efford to buy smartphones to access digital materials. For instance, some students cannot efford to buy digital devices. In addition, students can get free books from school libraries or second-hand books within their budget. Therefore, they don't need to buy digital devices for books.
In conclusion, although electronic books are cheaper and flexible but not suitable to everyone. However, individuals can access free information from online but still it leads to inconvenience for people. I believe that traditional books help with concentration and flexibility even it is easy for everyone to access.
