Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task and presents a clear position agreeing with the statement, though the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. In the introduction, the writer outlines their view, which is further supported in the body paragraphs regarding cost-saving and ease of access. However, some ideas remain under-developed or lack full elaboration. For instance, the discussion about older generations and local trends in Pakistan touches upon relevant points, but the reasoning is overly generalised and lacks depth. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to extend their main points with more fully elaborated explanations and specific examples rather than relying on brief, sweeping assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a clear attempt to organise the response into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and paragraphing is used. However, overall progression lacks clarity, and the logical flow between sentences is occasionally disrupted. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or mechanical, such as the awkward transition 'On the first view' instead of 'On the one hand', and 'Secodly' which also contains a spelling error. Referencing is not always clear, leading to abrupt shifts in thought between paragraphs. To achieve a higher standard, the writer must ensure a smoother logical progression throughout the text, employ a wider range of cohesive devices naturally, and use appropriate introductory phrases for each main body paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'extinct' and 'communities', but this often results in noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'today's all importante things are availible', 'have no demanding', and 'hard form reading'. Additionally, there are spelling mistakes like 'availible', 'Secodly', 'pakistan', 'tenagers', and punctuation or spacing issues that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer should focus on expanding their range of vocabulary, learning correct word collocations, and paying closer attention to standard spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('everyone access', 'people have no any access'), missing articles ('read to newspaper'), incorrect prepositions, and awkward verb tenses ('Online reading is more prefer'). These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and obscure the intended meaning. To reach the next level, the writer needs to incorporate a reliable mix of complex sentence structures and improve grammatical accuracy across basic patterns, verb forms, and articles.
