Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 2.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, stopping at only 193 words. Furthermore, the writing is largely off-topic, as the student discusses general concepts regarding the 'paradox of choice' and digital content rather than addressing the specific prompt about whether nobody will buy printed newspapers or books in the future because online content will be free. Ideas are extremely limited and repetitive towards the end, resulting in an inadequate response that addresses the prompt only minimally and tangentially.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.0

There is some basic organization with opening sentences attempting to introduce perspectives, but the text lacks clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as the mechanical repetition of transitional phrases like 'From a psychological and behavioral standpoint' and 'From a technological and economic perspective'. Referencing becomes unclear towards the end of the text, where sentences break down into fragmented repetitions like 'satisfaction and increase anxiety paradox of choice', making the overall arrangement confusing and difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response shows a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for attempting an academic essay, using terms such as 'proliferation', 'personalization', and 'manifestation'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, awkward word choices, and typos such as 'statemant', 'golbalization', and 'aligace'. These errors and spelling mistakes occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a lack of precision, though the intended meaning of individual sentences can generally still be deciphered.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and sentence construction impede the flow. There are missing words, run-on sentences with comma splices such as in 'The statemant nowadays we have too many choices 'is a nuanced issue, and agreement...', and fragmented clauses toward the end. These frequent errors require the reader to slow down and cause noticeable difficulty, placing the control of grammar and punctuation firmly at a lower level of proficiency.
