Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is perceived that in the long run people do not consider to buy printed material, like as books and newspapers, as there will be a trend to access these free of cost. Although it is undeniable that digital books and magazines has been a popular approach of getting information. However, I personally disagree with this opinion because it is not practically possible and e-books can complement not be able to completey abolished the concept of physical books.
On the one hand, it has been noticed that in this era of technological advancements, a large proportion of people preferred to read anything they want by using online resources, because of convenience and easily accessiblity. In other words, it can be said that readers can easily read digital books at anytime, without paying a substantial amount of money, for example while travelling, in working place. Furthermore, a large number of books can easily be downloaded in smartphones at free of cost. Therefore, people do not feel a burden to carry heavy books with them, as they can accessible by single clicks in their devices.
On the other hand, there are some reasons which persuaded me to think that traditional books reading trend can not be completely replaced by digital books. First and foremost, I believe that getting every reading materials online can not be completely accessible without paying some charges. There are different websites and search engines which asked for subscription, if you want to read new published materials completely. In addition, another reason is people enjoy the tactile sensation while turning the pages and love to collect wide variety of physical books in order to make their book shelves attractive. For example, well-renowned research in the UK has shown that a large number of people feel relaxing and stress free while reading physical books in free time.
To sum up, it can be reiterated that because of technological resources, people are in position to enjoy receiving educational and social information by using online platforms without paying high charges, which are approachable and consider more easy option. Nevertheless, this can not be expect in the future that people stop buying physical books, as they enjoy reading traditional books and have to pay considerable amount of money even while reading digital material.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, satisfying the requirements for a solid score. The writer successfully discusses both sides of the argument—the growing popularity and convenience of digital resources alongside the ongoing appeal and limitations of physical books. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or repetitive. For instance, the discussion on digital access in the second paragraph relies on general statements about convenience without fully exploring broader economic or educational implications. To reach a higher level, the arguments need greater depth, more robust extension, and fully elaborated supporting examples rather than broad generalisations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression of ideas from introduction to conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct aspects of the argument, utilizing standard discourse markers such as "On the one hand," "On the other hand," and "To sum up." However, cohesion can occasionally feel mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is not always completely clear, as seen with ambiguous pronoun usage in places. To achieve a higher standard, the writer needs to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices more smoothly, ensuring that transitions between sentences and paragraphs flow naturally without relying on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common items and topic-related terminology such as "technological advancements," "subscription," and "tactile sensation." Nevertheless, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies in word choice, word form, and collocation that prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Examples include phrases like "consider to buy" instead of "consider buying," "like as books" instead of "such as books," "easily accessiblity," and "new published materials." While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they reflect a limited control over precise word forms and stylistic collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting various subordinate clauses and compound forms. There is a control over basic punctuation and sentence boundaries, and meaning is generally clear despite grammatical slips. However, frequent errors persist in grammatical patterns, such as subject-verb agreement and infinitive/gerund usage, including "digital books and magazines has been," "books reading trend can not be completely replaced," "getting every reading materials online can not be completely accessible," and "this can not be expect." These mistakes show that while complex structures are attempted, they are often faulty, keeping the grammatical accuracy at a moderate level.
