There is a possibility in future where people would gain information through online resources without having to pay or buy the physical copies of newspapers or books. While i believe to some extent online platforms are going to takeover, still few people woud prefer hard copies over soft.
It is often found that people are more and more leaning towards the online resources for gaining information around the world or to read books whether be it academic or for interests. There are numerous benefits, may websites provide reading content free of cost and are accessible with the minimum requirement of an Internet. Moreover, for premium content, such as popular published books, platflorms could charge low monthly subscriptions. For instance platform like Kindle, it provides a range of novels in different genres, with a minimal charge. These subcriptions ultimately gives access to thousands of books available online and could be accessed at the comfort of your own house.
Subsequently, another advantage could be the ease to read without the hasle to carry or buy books. Financially, switching to online resources does seem like a profitable option for a long run, where a person can read however they want and wherever they are. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your response addresses all parts of the task by discussing whether people will stop buying physical newspapers and books in favour of free online reading, presenting a clear position throughout. However, some ideas are under-developed rather than fully extended. For instance, while you mention that platforms like Kindle offer novels with minimal charges, the reasoning surrounding copyright and the absolute absence of payment for 'everything' could be explored more thoroughly. Your main arguments are relevant and cover both sides of the issue—acknowledging the financial and practical benefits of digital reading alongside the enduring appeal of physical copies—which satisfies the requirements for this level. To move towards a higher band, you need to ensure that all your main ideas are fully extended and supported with more specific details or examples, avoiding generalisations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, making your stance apparent from the beginning. You use paragraphing sufficiently to separate different aspects of the argument, such as the benefits of online resources and the counter-argument regarding physical books. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For example, transition words like 'Subsequently' are used rather awkwardly at the start of the third paragraph, and referencing is not always clear, such as in the phrase 'platflorms could charge low monthly subscriptions. For instance platform like Kindle'. To improve cohesion further, ensure that cohesive devices are used more naturally to link sentences and paragraphs smoothly, without interrupting the logical flow of ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'subcriptions', 'genres', and 'financially'. There are, however, several spelling mistakes and word-choice errors that occur throughout the text, including 'takeover' instead of 'take over', 'woud' for 'would', 'may websites' for 'many websites', 'platflorms', 'hasle' for 'hassle', and 'by physical copies' instead of 'with physical copies'. Fortunately, these errors do not impede communication, and the meaning remains clear. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on expanding your range of less common vocabulary while improving accuracy in spelling and collocations, ensuring that words are used in their precise contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'While i believe to some extent online platforms are going to takeover, still few people woud prefer hard copies over soft.' There are some noticeable errors in grammar, punctuation, and articles throughout your writing. For instance, there is a missing capitalisation on 'i', a missing comma splice issue ('low monthly subscriptions. For instance'), and occasional preposition or article inaccuracies like 'access at the comfort of your own house' instead of 'in the comfort'. Nevertheless, these errors are not overly frequent and rarely impede communication. To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with a higher proportion of error-free sentences and refined punctuation control.
